"Sabrina, The Animated Series" is a must-see television cartoon at our house. The GameBoy version, "Sabrina, The Animated Series: Zapped!" lets kids take the television series to a higher level by interacting with familiar characters and dabbling in a little magic!
Although this non-violent game is aimed at girls ages 5 and up, it appeals to both boys and girls. The GameBoy skills needed to play this game are more appropriate for kids 7 years and older. Even grown-ups will find the many jumps and stunts challenging to maneuver! Quality animation and interesting background music combine for a high-energy adventure. Kids help Sabrina fix a bad spell which turned the school variety show's audience into a bunch of animals. Kids play as Sabrina and feline sidekick, Salem, in four action-packed levels (or worlds, each containing five sub-levels) as they collect spells, power stars, health hearts and make sure they've got enough lives remaining to beat the game. Kids will progress through the school, beach festival, Town Center Mall, and the zoo as they help Sabrina transform her classmates! Whether exploring food stands, boardwalks, crates and barrels in the beach festival or doing the mall jumping on escalators and elevator shafts, it's no wonder this game is a popular hit with young Sabrina fans! Searching for classmates in the Mario-like environment is fun! Knowledge Adventure's talented production team put loads of work into this animated game and the details don't go unnoticed. You'll find a great variety of characters in this game. Sabrina's fellow classmates have turned into a bunch of critters like snakes, kangaroos, spiders, crabs, pelicans, fish, seals, bees, moles, raccoons, chameleons, rhinos, bats, pandas and armadillos! The object of the game is to round up the animals, one by one, and zap 'em (magically, not violently!) into kids by using the correct GameBoy buttons. Although it can be confusing to adults, my eight-year-old enjoyed this "save the day" sorceress game! As for replayability, your mileage may vary depending on the age of your kids. It took less than three days for Tim to beat the game. No cheats needed! Swapping between Sabrina and Salem helps kids exercise some logical thinking and problem-solving skills as they are sure to find out that Salem runs faster and is smaller than Sabrina. Watch him use his tail to "whip away" Kitty Blocks that are obstacles kids need to dodge. Of course, kids need to transform into Sabrina whenever they run into pesky critters. Are you lost yet? Hope not! Spells are the best part of the game--they power up the excitement by making the levels more fun! You'll bump into Hover Jump Spell, Crush Spell, Bubble Spell, and Teleport Spell throughout the game--each of them is sure to keep kids smiling! Climbing lockers, crawling through eerie basements, jumping in the gym while watching out for animals--it's par for the course in this mind-zapping GameBoy Color game! Have fun dodging trouble and practicing cool spells---but remember, it's just a game! |
