Apple T-Shirts:
A Yearbook of History
At Apple Computer

by Gordon Thygeson

Insanely great look at 20 years of Apple T-Shirts!

Do you consider yourself a loyal Mac addict? Does the thought of Apple's Cupertino campus pump you up? Ever dreamed of working for Apple?

If you have an extra nice place on your coffee table, Apple T-Shirts: A Yearbook of History at Apple Computer will make your table look boffo. In fact, you'll be amazed at how many of your pals (and so-called Mac haters) pick up this book, look at the pictures and actually read it. A true videocamera moment!

This 204-page color glossy features photos of over 1,000 shirts. This is no ordinary coffee table book. Interesting is the huge two year organizational task involved in gathering the shirts, photographing them and collaborating the historical significance spanned over Apple's 20 year history.

Many of the T-shirts are shown with the name of the shirts' contributors while some of them were uncovered in Goodwill Stores. Since Apple uses T-shirts to reward employees for their hard work and effort, each T-shirt meant something special for employees and ex-employees and were "worn like a badge of courage", according to the author.

The wealth of stories from behind the scenes at Apple makes this book a stand out original. Genuinely interesting, well-written, nicely-organized and seemingly accurate, this book is a refreshing read and beats the socks off some pretty dull computer books out there.

Author Gordon Thygeson, a Software Test Engineer and Apple contractor, hits the mark with his witty approach, yearbook style, as he documents 20 years of symbolic T-shirts.

According to Thygeson, "Apple is the only place where you have to put your t-shirt size on your employment application." T-shirts at Apple were more than walking billboards and free advertising for the company. They became part of the development process--defining teams with symbols or slogans. Sort of like school sports teams!

" One thing's for certain--reading this book provides true Apple fans, employees and ex-employees, a trip down memory lane! You'll ooh and aah at the beginning; Apple II; the first Macintosh computers; the PowerBooks and other insanely great stuff. Definitely, a must read for Mac users of all ages!
